Digital radiography has introduced a new level of diagnostic accuracy that is redefining how a change in enamel is interpreted. The following examples from my practice, suggest that even slight changes in demineralization are in fact far more advanced than meets the eye, causing us to re-evaluate those "incipent", or "developing" spots within enamel that we traditionally would "observe" over time.

With my use of photography, I have been able to catalogue numerous instances of decay that are significantly more advanced than supported by X-rays.  I am currently prepairing an articie for publication on this topic.
